Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

Alexander McQueen always blows me away. The house never fails to send shivers down my spine and make me gape in disbelief. Every collection is like a mini celebration. The end.

To quote Rachel Zoe: I. Die.
I am in love. The beautiful construction, the excess of textures, the watercolors, even the fishscales. Really wearable art. I only have good things to say. Frank Lloyd Wright couldn't construct houses anywhere near as beautiful as these pieces. Now, it's not like Alexander McQueen doesn't always deliver (it does), but this...this is something. I'd glanced earlier, thought it was gorgeous, but was reminded by a friend about it and gave it another look. Obsessed. So, I commend the designers at Alexander McQueen, even though they probably don't really care at all.

An ode to Polaroid and The Impossible Project

O polaroid, how I love thee.
My love affair with polaroid started around age 6, when I got my first instant camera. I got rid of it...I don't know when or why, but I've recently gotten a new one, a OneStep autofocus that I'm bound to have lots and lots of good times with.
However, as a lot of you (assuming I have readers, which I don't) probably know, Polaroid's stopped the production of all of their instant film, which renders all of our ethereally lovely instant cameras useless if you're not willing to pay $20 for one box of film. I mean, I'm willing to pay that much, but it's a little bit of a stretch for anyone really.
This is exactly why you should support the Impossible Project.
The Impossible Project is an organization that's aiming to develop new instant film to work with our vintage Polaroids by 2010. They need as much support as they can get, so I urge anyone who's got any expertise in instant film to check it out at http://www.the-impossible-project.com/.
I know that had nothing whatsoever to do with fashion, but it doesn't matter. I'll do something later.
I'm going to beg anyone, anyone, who's read this to give me suggestions. What's something people are interested in hearing about in fashion, hm?

My first "look" put up on blogspot. A little menswear inspired, a little 80s. I put this outfit together in about 5 minutes, but is there anyone who has any thoughts on it, comments, critiques? Anybody?

Also, I'm sorry about how crappy that first picture's quality is.

Supermodel Saturday: Kasia Struss

So I've taken today to talk about one of my favorite professional pretty girls, the beautiful Kasia Struss.

Though she might not rank as high on my list of favorites, as...say, Freja Beha she's really a great model. Kasia was spring 08's catwalk queen, walking 75 shows in four weeks -- that's commendable. She's still in high demand, those sky-high cheekbones and pro walk still winning her shows and shoots. (Did you like that? "Sky-high cheekbones"?)
More recently she's been in Mulberry's fall 09 campaign which I caught for the first time in Elle. Though I have to admit that I've never been a fan of the whole..."avant garde" huge frizz hair concept, it's a nice ad that Kasia of course looks great in along with Irina Kulikova. Shows off the girls' gorgeous legs and maybe, just maybe, the ridiculous hair even works a little with the autumn-y background.

A great model who shares my name. How awesome is that.

I got a call from the electric company

September Elle, how I love you.

Leafing through my issue I came across the editorial Electric Company, styled by Christopher Niquet and photographed by Yelena Yemchuk. It's amazing at the least. Madisyn Ritland looks like some ethereal 70's beauty goddess on a trip, showing off the (completely lovely) flowy, gorgeously saturated looks like no one's business...the best thing I've ever seen. She looks so free and stunning, and she's got so much passion.
I think I've got a new favorite.
The looks are as gorgeous as Madisyn...I'm a sucker for 60's/70's inspired stuff so I love the free-flowing chiffons and colors and everything. (especially the beige gown in the fourth photo -- beautiful construction...or lack thereof)

I like tea, cats, silk, MGMT, sushi, twinkle lights, tie dye, learning French, The Fratellis, thinness, leather, ballet, frozen yogurt, satin, (film) photography, CSI: Miami, lip balm, and fashion. I like fashion a lot. One could say that I love it. I really, really, really love it.
I do not like sports, ugly clothes, geometry, bad electronica, hot weather, Speidi, hick towns, Hummers, bad grammar, irresponsibility, bad spelling, or Sarah Palin.
I'm after a lookbook invitation...not to seem desperate or anything. But, you know...
